What Compliance Engine Does
Compliance Engine helps merchants display required compliance or warning messages before customers complete a purchase. It is designed for stores that need clear, repeatable evidence that shoppers were shown important notices at the right point in the buying journey.
Where Messages Can Appear
Merchants can display banner messages on the product detail page, cart, or checkout. Checkout messaging is available for Shopify Plus stores. This gives merchants flexibility to surface warnings and compliance notices at the stage that best fits their legal or operational requirements.
Flexible Rule Settings
Banner display rules can be configured in multiple ways so merchants can decide exactly when a notice should appear. That makes it easier to support use cases such as Prop 65 messaging, product-specific warnings, cart-based conditions, and other compliance scenarios that depend on what a customer is viewing or purchasing.
Logs and Audit Records
Compliance Engine records when customers are shown a banner and when they proceed to purchase products after seeing that message. This helps merchants keep a reliable record that a required banner was presented before purchase.
The app also logs rule changes, including what was changed and which part of the rule was updated. Together, banner-view logs and rule history provide merchants with a stronger operational record of how compliance messaging was configured and delivered over time.
